November 4-5, 2006: The Susan Chambers Dance Company attended the Atlanta workshop and competition of Tremaine Conventions, a Hollywood, California based group of professional dancers. Many of our dancers make the first cut in the scholarship awards, and 7 dancers made it to the finals. We had one winner that received a scholarship.
Competition awards were earned in the Junior Line Jazz category (third place) and many of these dancers were competing for the first time, a first and second place in the Teen Production Tap category, and the Teen High Score Award. There was a first place earned in the Senior Duo/Trio Lyrical category, a first in Senior Group Ballet, a first in Senior Line Tap, a first in Senior Production Tap, and a first in Senior Line Hip-Hop. The Senior High Score was also awarded to The Susan Chambers Dance Company. Remarks from the Tremaine staff: "We have the best overall student company that they have seen in the Southeast. It was wonderful to see the versatility in the dancers"
November, 2005: The Dance Company entered nine pieces and received 6 first place awards and 2 second place awards. Dance Company members also auditioned for convention awards and scholarships and took more than half of the awards given. Many dancers made it to the final cut and several won scholarships for the coming season. The dancers in the above picture won first place after performing "Minnie The Moocher", a musical theatre jazz piece choreographed by Susan Chambers (pictured at right center). Also pictured is Jenn Paige Chambers at left center. Hats off to the great efforts and performances by every Susan Chambers Dance Company member at Tremaine Dance Convention!
MARCH 10-12, 2006: The Susan Chambers Dance Company competed at Access Broadway, a comprehensive workshop and competition that includes acting, singing and dancing for the total Broadway experience! SCDC entered 10 soloists that all won first or second place positions. We won three top awards for each age division, beating out 50 dancers in each category to gleen the top senior, teen and junior award in that division! SCDC entered 12 pieces to win top first place awards for ten, and second place awards for two. "Chicago", a piece choreographed by Jenn Paige Chambers, won "Best Choreography" out of the entire competition of 350 pieces and also won $250 for the dance company. Susan Chambers' "Puttin On The Ritz" won top award in the Junior division for choreography. During Access Broadway's Talent Auditions, SCDC dancers had many in the first cut and several in the final cut. For the finals, we had 3 out of the six selected for scholarship recipients. Congratulations to all!!!
Feb 25, 2006: The Susan Chambers Dance Company entered one senior piece "Chicago" at Onstage New York, a new convention affiliated with Joe Lanteri's New York City Dance Alliance, and won Teen High Score Group, Teen High Score Overall and the Entertainment Award. This honor was earned by competing against hundreds of numbers presented by regional dancers. Congratulations!
