Carolyn Simpson
Carolyn Simpson started dancing at the age of three and
it soon became a large part of her life. In middle school she
realized that she needed more technique and transferred to Susan
Chambers School of Theatre Dance. She became a member of the
company, first as an apprentice and then senior dancer, and had
a blast performing and competing with SCDC.
After graduating
high school, Carolyn moved to Athens and attended the University
of Georgia on the HOPE Scholarship. She graduated in 2002 magna
cum laude with a B.S. in Dance Education. While at UGA she was
very involved with the dance program performing with the UGA
Ballet Ensemble and the UGA Ballroom Performance Group.
In 2002
she moved to Houson, TX where she performed with Ad Deum Dance
Company and taught ballet, tap, jazz, and ballroom at Boni’s
School of Dance. After two years she realized she missed singing
and dancing and traveling and hit the road. Carolyn performed
and taught on Holland America Cruise Lines in Alaska, Mexico,
South America, and Antarctica.
She also moved to New York City
where she had the chance to take classes with the top teachers
in the world while traveling to regional theatres to perform
and teach. Carolyn’s favorite performing role is that of
Radio City Rockette. She first joined the Rockettes in Detroit
in 2005 and has since had the chance to travel with them to Chicago,
Boston, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, and St. Louis. Last year she also
had to opportunity for the promotion to swing.
After traveling
for 7 years, Carolyn has realized she’s ready to plant
some roots and get back to her loves…family, the South,
and teaching dance. She’s excited to be returning to Susan
Chambers' as a teacher this time around and share her love
with others. |
